Stone Paths
The architecture and customs of immigrants preserved through time. The script rescues the past in search of appreciation and preservation of the customs of Italian immigrants.
Italian immigrants were legitimate representatives of peasant culture, who valued religiosity, work and family. Today it is still possible to experience all this tradition and cultural heritage in Caminhos de Pedra.
Considered a pioneer in its segment, the Caminhos de Pedra route is a national reference, having been the subject of many studies and theses in the areas of cultural and rural tourism, architecture, historical heritage, entrepreneurship, and administration, among others. It is the story of a people told in the form of architecture, landscapes and customs.
The Caminhos de Pedra Route is a Historical Heritage of Rio Grande do Sul since 2009 (State Law 13.177/09). By concentrating the largest architectural collection of Italian immigration in rural areas of the country and by the concern with the preservation of material and immaterial historical heritage, Caminhos de Pedra earned the qualification of a 'living museum'.
With 12km of extension, the itinerary offers culture, gastronomy and architecture in several points of visitation and observation. The centenary stone houses on the route include mills, colonial canteens, homemade pasta house, looms, candy house and much more, the life experiences of immigrants and their descendants, a constant rescue of cultural heritage.
